The Light Phone had been shipping every device from China to the US, then exporting on to Canada, Australia and the European Union. With tariffs landing on both legs, the same phone was taxed twice — and in March the company paused production of its third-generation handset.
Moving onto Mayple changed the routing. Mayple generates the standardised system codes that classify each device, then produces the product descriptions, commercial invoices and clearance documents every international shipment needs — so orders for non-US customers never touch the US at all.
"Our prices have gone down significantly." By bypassing US tariffs for international customers, the company has seen savings of at least 20% on the cost of its goods.
